A 'Z' wall carves the sloping site, generating a public court that fronts the street and a secluded private domain beyond – so dividing the Embassy from the Ambassador's Residence. The concourse extends beneath suspended horizontal floor plates than span between the courtyard walls, arriving at a light-filled inner atrium. Stairs ascend the perimeter, arriving at upper level offices. Over the dividing wall, a private residence opens to the garden, pool and sunlight. The upper level pierces the division to reconnect the Embassy and Residence internally.
